Outreach Worker

As an Outreach Worker at WCSS, you will use your own emotional intelligence to connect with and provide no cost confidential support to individuals of all ages and families from diverse backgrounds. You will use your experience in social services to engage individuals who may be experiencing mental/physical health challenges, financial insecurity, substance use, relationship challenges, parenting or prenatal support among many others.

You will closely collaborate with the food security team and administration team with various tasks including intake and greeting community members upon arriving to the building including during open food bank hours, assist with drop in food bank requests, answer incoming phone calls and direct clients to appropriate personnel.

As an Extreme Weather Center Support Worker, you will support in the operations of the Extreme Weather Center in Whistler which provides community members with safe temporary housing at no cost for those at risk of homelessness in cases of adverse weather which causes unsafe conditions. Adverse weather includes a combination of seasonally unusual temperature, wind chill, snow fall, rainfall, wind, air quality advisories.

Re-Use It Centre Ambassador

The Re-Use It Centre is a vital part of the WCSS and the greater community by largely supporting all social services through circular economy and waste diversion program. The Re-Use It Centre Ambassador role is includes receiving, sorting, and selling of donations to generate funds to support WCSS community programs, facilitate circular economy, and divert waste from landfill. The Re-Use It Centre Ambassador must be aware that they are a representative of WCSS and our organizations values. This individual ought to share an enthusiasm for supporting our community and have a passion for waste diversion.

Re-Build It Centre Team Member

The Re-Build It Centre (RBI) Team Members role is to receive, process and sell donations, facilitate the Whistler Tool Lending Library, and operate a cash register. The RBI Team Member drives our cube truck throughout Whistler collecting and delivering furniture as well as operating our refundable bottle collection program. The RBI Team Member engages with our customers, has a passion for waste diversion and is an advocate for a positive and safe environment for everyone.

Food Bank Worker & Food Recovery Driver- Part Time & Full Time

With a passion for food recovery, community service, and love of food, the Food Bank Worker & Food Recovery Driver’s role is to drive the food bank vehicle to do food recovery pickups, set up & tear down food bank, support volunteers and  carry out day to day tasks of various food programs in collaboration with the other Food Bank Support Worker and Food Programming and Community Development Manager.
