Board of Directors
Whistler Community Services Society is actively recruiting three new Board of Directors to join for September 2020.
We are looking for individuals who have a background and skill set in the areas of: HR/People Management, Governance/Legal, Business Management/Retails Management, Finance.
Getting involved with the WCSS Board of Directors offers a unique opportunity to learn about and understand many of the social service needs of the community and advocate for those needs. It also provides an opportunity to be involved with a non-profit board and play a role in community development and leadership.

In our last fiscal year our Outreach workers booked over 10,000 appointments and our Food Bank team saw over 21,000 visits! Our administrative team attends and plans local events, raises funds for our community, and supports our Outreach and Food Security departments. Our team is made up of caring individuals who support our community through our services and programs.
Front line staff at our social enterprise Re-Use-It and Re-Build-It Centre thrift stores take pride in being part of Whistler’s circular economy and revenue generated by these teams and stores directly supports social programs and keeps useful goods out of the landfill. These social enterprises are the engine that drives our community impact!

Fundraising campaigns and events in Whistler are a creative and fun way to raise funds that help WCSS provide social programs and services to community members. As a Whistler non-profit with charitable status, WCSS relies on the generosity of volunteers and donors to support community members where they need it most. We have opportunities available throughout the week and are proud to share that we have many loyal volunteers who have contributed years of active service. FOOD BANK
Tasks for Food Bank volunteers include: inspecting and putting away donated food, unloading food deliveries, repackaging bulk foods into smaller portions, bringing recycling to depot, cleaning and organizing. Volunteers are usually booked for bi-weekly shifts and we also maintain an on-call list for occasional or emergency help. Learn more about the Whistler Food Bank.
Food Bank Fundraisers and Food Drive Volunteers
Periodically, fundraisers and food drives are hosted by WCSS or run jointly with local businesses or non-profits. Often volunteers are required to help at information tables, solicit donations for draw prizes or raffles, sell raffle tickets, or set-up and tear down.
Hot Lunch and School Lunch Programs
WCSS provides a weekly hot lunch at its Nesters Road location and brown bag lunches to Whistler schools three times per week. We are looking for people who would be interested in preparing a hot lunch, sandwiches and snacks. Morning shifts are required. Learn more about the Hot Lunch and School Lunch program.
Re-Use-It Centre
Love thrift and the thrill of the hunt? Enthusiastic, committed volunteers assist staff to welcome customers, help customers find their treasure, organize and keep the store stocked and beautiful. This is a great opportunity to meet friends, give back to your community and develop job related skills. Testing appliances, building, tinkering and DIY projects are always in the works so if you are handy, we need your help! Learn more about our Social Enterprises.
Fundraising and Events
Fundraising campaigns and events are vital to help WCSS raise awareness and deliver social programs and services to community members. You are not only raising money to support WCSS, you are an ambassador of the community and raise awareness about our support services. Have an event that aligns with our values and mission?
