Careers at WCSS
At WCSS, we value Trust, Respect, Inclusion, Advocacy and Collaboration.
We have a dedicated team who are enthusiastic and resilient. They love where they live and what they do. In 2021, our outreach workers booked over 6,000 appointments with people who needed support. They genuinely care about getting them on the right path with social programs and services. Front line staff at Re-Use-It and Re-Build-It centres take pride in making sure the circular economy keeps funneling money into Whistler’s social programs and diverts useful goods out of landfill.
Staff at WCSS have a range of skill sets that keep our community healthy. Retail staff in the storefront and in receiving. Operations staff to keep merchandise moving. Technical staff to test and fix goods. Outreach and program staff to support clients. Administrative staff to pull everything together.
Want to be part of a successful social enterprise that’s always evolving? We have a business model that builds careers for individuals and strengthens communities, while taking care of our planet.

Help Us Help your Neighbours
Volunteer your time and expertise
As a Whistler non-profit with charitable status, WCSS relies on the generosity of volunteers and donors to support community members where they need it most. We have opportunities available throughout the week and are proud to share that we have many loyal volunteers who have contributed years of active service. The following areas typically run with volunteer support:
Tasks for Food Bank volunteers include: inspecting and putting away donated food, unloading food deliveries, repackaging bulk foods into smaller portions, bringing recycling to depot, cleaning and organizing. Volunteers are usually booked for bi-weekly shifts and we also maintain an on-call list for occasional or emergency help. Learn more about the Whistler Food Bank.
Food Bank Fundraisers and Food Drive Volunteers
Periodically, fundraisers and food drives are hosted by WCSS or run jointly with local businesses or non-profits. Often volunteers are required to help at information tables, solicit donations for draw prizes or raffles, sell raffle tickets, or set-up and tear down.
Hot Lunch and School Lunch Programs
WCSS provides a weekly hot lunch at its Nesters Road location and brown bag lunches to Whistler schools three times per week. We are looking for people who would be interested in preparing a hot lunch, sandwiches and snacks. Morning shifts are required. Learn more about the Hot Lunch and School Lunch program.
Love thrift and the thrill of the hunt? Enthusiastic, committed volunteers assist staff to welcome customers, help customers find their treasure, organize and keep the store stocked and beautiful. This is a great opportunity to meet friends, give back to your community and develop job related skills. Testing appliances, building, tinkering and DIY projects are always in the works so if you are handy, we need your help! Learn more about our Social Enterprises.
Fundraising and Events
Fundraising campaigns and events are vital to help WCSS raise awareness and deliver social programs and services to community members. You are not only raising money to support WCSS, you are an ambassador of the community and raise awareness about our support services. Have an event that aligns with our values and mission? We’d love to hear from you! Be a WCSS fundraising ambassador. Please contact us to learn more about our Third-Party Fundraising agreement.
