The Szocs and Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation’s $50,000 Challenge

COVID-19 has hit the Whistler community hard. Every day, Whistler Community Services Society is working hard to keep our community safe, housed, well-fed, and mentally healthy. Getting through this will require a new level of resilience. When someone has the courage to open up about their mental health, it is critical that they feel seen and heard. We want to be there. We’re still raising funds to make sure we can.

That’s why the Szocs Foundation and Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation have donated $50,000 to fund our vital mental health services. And they’re challenging our community to match their gifts with another $50,000.

We’re so grateful to the hundreds of people who helped us raise $115,000 over the past two weeks to keep essential services running. We are truly moved by your generosity. This pandemic has stretched us to our limits. A huge increase in demand for our services, coupled with the closure of ReUseIt and ReBuildIt Centres, means we’ve lost our main source of funding right when the need for our services is greater than ever.

Over the next few months, we need to raise $1 million dollars so we can continue to support those who need it most. A record number of people in our community will need emotional support to get through this. Thank you for helping us be there for them.
