Food Security Support Worker

As a Food Security Support Worker at WCSS, you will work with the other Food Security Support Workers, Food Security Volunteer and Program Coordinator and Food Security Manager to offer various food security programs such as Food Recovery, Food Bank, Breakfast Club in school programming, Food Skills and Nutrition among others. You will be part of the WCSS team, the social services team, and uphold the WCSS values of inclusion, advocacy, trust, respect and collaboration. You will drive the company vehicle for food recovery pick-ups throughout the community and have a passion for waste diversion and minimizing food waste.

Outreach Worker

Whistler Community Services Society is recruiting 2 Full-Time Outreach Workers with staff accommodation available. One position will be focused on creating meaningful connections with our local Seniors population therefore experience in this is considered an asset.

Casual, On Call Extreme Weather Support Worker - EVENING

As an Extreme Weather Shelter Support Worker, you will support the operations of the overnight Extreme Weather Shelter in Whistler which provides community members with safe temporary housing at no cost in cases of adverse weather which includes a combination of seasonally unusual cold temperatures, wind chill, snowfall, rainfall, wind, air quality advisories. This position is weather dependent and you will be given approximately 72 notice for shifts ranging from 5:30pm-9:00am nightly. Commitment will vary between 5-30 hours/month from October 15th, 2023 to April 15th, 2024.

Extreme Weather Response Shelter Support Worker (Casual, Oct 15, 2024 - Apr 15, 2025)

 
As an Extreme Weather Response Shelter Support Worker, you will support the operations of the Extreme Weather Shelter at WCSS which provides community members with safe temporary housing at no cost for those at risk of homelessness in cases of adverse weather which can include a combination of seasonally unusual temperature, wind chill, snow fall, rainfall, wind, air quality advisories.  You will be trained to provide confidential support to individuals accessing the shelter. You will closely collaborate with the WCSS Outreach Team and complete various tasks including intake and greeting community members upon arriving at the shelter, operation tasks and supervision of all guests. You will be given approximately 72 hours notice prior to shifts being available based on the forecasted weather and working hours are outlined in the job description.

Re-Use It Centre Ambassador

The Re-Use It Centre is a vital part of the WCSS and the greater community by largely supporting all social services through circular economy and waste diversion program. The Re-Use It Centre Ambassador role is includes receiving, sorting, and selling of donations to generate funds to support WCSS community programs, facilitate circular economy, and divert waste from landfill. The Re-Use It Centre Ambassador must be aware that they are a representative of WCSS and our organizations values. This individual ought to share an enthusiasm for supporting our community and have a passion for waste diversion.

The Re-Build-It Centre (RBI) Team Member’s role is to receive, process, and sell donations. This role also includes facilitating the Tool Lending Library, and handling cash transactions.
