WHISTLER, BC, November 27, 2024 – Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS)would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) for their support of the Counselling Assistance Program through the Community Enrichment Program grants.

“The Counselling Assistance Program fills a vital gap in Whistler, where financial barriers often limit access to mental health care,” said Jackie Dickinson, Executive Director at WCSS. “Thanks, in part, to the RMOW’s support through the Community Enrichment Program, WCSS can continue providing this essential service and ensuring wrap-around support for those in need.” Through the program, Outreach Workers connect individuals with a registered clinical counsellor, and WCSS subsidizes up to six sessions per calendar year for each qualifying client. The program ensures financial challenges do not prevent access to critical mental health services.

WCSS Outreach Workers play a crucial role in the program by working closely with community members to identify when counselling would be beneficial. They ensure individuals are matched with the right counsellor and provide ongoing support alongside clinical counselling, creating a holistic approach to mental wellness.

RMOW’s commitment to this initiative demonstrates the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering a resilient and healthy community. As mental health challenges persist across our community, programs like the Counselling Assistance Program ensure that Whistler residents have access to affordable, professional care tailored to their needs.
