We would like to say a big thank you to the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the Community Enrichment Program (CEP). This year the CEP is supporting our Counselling Assistance program. We are very grateful for the support of ourselves and so many other non-profits for this community grant that helps us support one another through health, recreation, sport, environment, social services, etc. – all things that make this community come TOGETHER and be so vibrant.
Our Counselling Assistance program subsidizes financially restricted individuals, couples and families who would like to see a counselor but could not otherwise afford the cost. Those who meet the financial criteria can access a subsidy the covers some of the fees for up to 6 hours of counselling with a certified clinical counsellor. An Outreach worker reviews the list of qualified counselors TOGETHER with clients to find the best match. Depending on the client’s financial situation, WCSS will subsidize a certain amount. After meeting with an outreach worker and making sure the financial & residential criteria are met, the community member is approved for the program. Once a client has selected and met with the counsellor, our outreach team provides ongoing support to ensure the counsellor is a good fit for the clients needs.
