Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) has supported Whistler’s social health and wellness since 1989. The thrift store is a powerhouse in Whistler’s circular economy, diverting over a tonne of useful items from landfill each day at its Re-Use-It and Re-Build-It centres. We can relate to the ups and downs of living in a resort town; and our goal is to meet individuals wherever they’re at. Our front-line staff is trained to listen and offer support for those who need it most.

Early entry into Whistler Community Services has a request for proposal for the purchase of a FTIR Spectrometer Machine (Fournier Transform Infrared) with the intention of expanding our current harm reduction services with enhanced on-site drug testing services. FTIR Spectrometers are used to detect harmful drug compounds and distinguish chemical compounds found within substances. The main components of these machines are a source, interferometer, sample compartment, detector, amplifier, A/D convertor and computer.

Requests should be submitted to the Outreach Services Program Manager at lisa@mywcss.org with a quote inclusive of the FTIR Spectrometer, sampling modules, spectroscopy software, drug library and technology workstation with an expected budget of approximately $50,000 CAD. Deadline to apply is June 19th, 2022 and follow up with potential companies will be provided by the WCSS Outreach Services Program Manager.
