Who is it for?

For parents/caregivers of teens or others who work in community with teens aged 13 – 19 years old, in the Whistler, Pemberton, and Squamish area.

WCSS runs two workshops per year (in the fall and spring), attend all 3 – 4 sessions (once a week), per workshop. Times and dates vary. Check our Facebook page for our next sessions.

What you will receive

Get together in-person to learn from community experts, make connections and support each other. Information on topics related to today’s teens from community experts such as:

  • Youth Mental Health
  • Supporting your teen with ADHD
  • Youth Cannabis Awareness
  • Teens’ Cyber-bullying, Vandalism and Violence 
  • Sexual Health and Consent
  • Tobacco & Vapour Products
  • 2SLGBTQAI+ Youth

How to register

Register through the Eventbrite. Attending each session is recommended as skills learned will build on one another but not mandatory.

SPRING 2025 SESSION:

A three part in-person workshop series: DBT Coping Skills
 
Dates: Wednesday April 23, 30, and May 7, from 5:00 – 6:30pm at WCSS (8000 Nesters Rd.)
 
Each week learn coping skills from three of the four Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) modules to better understand and support youth who are struggling with emotion regulation or other related issues.
 

Week #1 Mindfulness

learning to be present and aware of thoughts and emotions.

Week #2 Distress Tolerance

developing skills to cope with difficult emotions and situations.

Week #3 Emotion Regulation

learning to understand and manage emotions effectively.
Sign up for all three sessions is recommended as skills are built on each other. Facilitated by Kelsey Schreiner, MC, RCC, youth & Young Adult Clinician with Whistler Mental Health & Substance Use Services (VCH)
