With the many shifts in Whistler to address the COVID-19 virus, the Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) has made changes to operations to meet provincial health guidelines and Worksafe BC standards.

How to Contact Outreach Services for Support

Understanding how stressful these times are with food and financial insecurity, physical distancing and quarantine, WCSS Outreach Services are operating Monday to Saturday and can be accessed by phone at 604-932-0113 or online booking at mywcss.org. They can provide mental health and emotional support, assist with filling out government forms, advise on counselling options, advocate for your rights, and help find food and shelter. Ask about new virtual programs like the Parenting Support Group and Quaranteens.

How to Get Emergency Food

For those experiencing food insecurity, prepared food bags can be picked up from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday to Friday at Whistler Conference Centre. Starting June 1, the Food Bank will only operate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Call 604-932-0113 if your health is compromised and need delivery.

How to Donate to the Re-Use-It Centre

Whistler’s thrift store will accept donations starting May 29. Drop off will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 8000 Nesters Rd. Locals, please keep items until it is your neighbourhood’s turn to donate on a rotating basis:

  • Sunday: Emerald/ Rainbow/ Wedgewood
  • Monday: Alpine/ Green Lake Estates
  • Tuesday: Spruce Grove, White Gold, Whistler Cay Heights, Whistler Cay, Nesters
  • Wednesday: Whistler Village, Brio, Blueberry, Blackcomb Benchlands, Alta Vista
  • Thursday: Westside, Nordic, Creekside, Bayshores, Kadenwood
  • Friday: Spring Creek, Function Junction, Cheakamus, Pinecrest/Blacktusk

We will happily accept gently used, pre-loved or unwanted items. We are not able to accept large donations, furniture, books or cardboard. The Re-Build-It Centre will remain closed at this time. As a social enterprise, these centres generate the main source of funding for WCSS to operate our programs and services.

How to Donate to Outreach Services: Mental Health Community Challenge

Until June 7, the Szocs Foundation and Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation are challenging the community to donate $50,000, matching their $50,000 donation to help fund mental health services. Getting through this pandemic will require a new level of resilience and anyone who is struggling can contact our Outreach Services team for support. If you can, please donate to help fund this critical service at mywcss.org/fundraiser.

How to Donate to the Whistler Food Bank

The Food Bank is continuing to ask the community for donations of cash and food to meet demand. Since the appeal to fill the shelves was first announced, the amount of donations received is truly appreciated and we are thankful for this amazing outpouring of generosity! We have served over 2,200 emergency bags since mid March.

Donations over $25 are eligible for a tax receipt and can be made at mywcss.org/fundraiser. Food donations can be made at donation bins at all grocery stores in Whistler. Most needed items include: canned food rich in protein: tuna/salmon, canned meat, beans and legumes, canned soup, vegetables and fruit, cereal and granola bars, dried beans and legumes, peanut butter, rice, pasta and pasta sauce.

Businesses with large or fresh food donations, please contact foodbank@mywcss.org. DO NOT deliver directly to the Food Bank.
