Cold Weather Shelter OPEN Through December 23rd

Whistler’s cold weather shelter is now open every night through Thursday December 22nd from 8pm for anyone needing a warm place for the night. The shelter will operate at the Whistler Public Library each night and will wrap up operations at 8am on Friday December 23rd (Updated 12/20/22 at 14:19).

As temperatures dropped, Environment Canada issued an arctic outflow warning for Whistler, Pemberton, the Sea to Sky highway and Howe Sound Monday morning. 

According to the national weather agency, “An arctic front has brought in a cold airmass to the south coast. Strong outflow winds are bringing temperatures five to 10 degrees below seasonal normals. Wind chill values will approach minus 25 over Howe Sound and minus 30 over the Whistler and Sea to Sky region.” Read the full article in PIQUE
