Help Us Help your Neighbours

Volunteer your time and expertise

As a Whistler non-profit with charitable status, WCSS relies on the generosity of volunteers and donors to support community members where they need it most. We have opportunities available throughout the week and are proud to share that we have many loyal volunteers who have contributed years of active service. The following areas typically run with volunteer support:

Become a Board Member

Applications open until May 10, 2021. Apply today.

OUTreach

Become a Mental Health Ambassador. You will learn how to spot signs of mental health challenges, the importance of harm reduction, how to be an empathetic listener, how to be an ally in mental health, and best practices for self care. Our aim is that every participant who completes this program will be able to take what they’ve learnt and apply it to their daily lives through fostering healthy, meaningful connections for Whistler residents. Please connect with our Shalissa, WCSS Outreach Worker via email at shalissa@mywcss.org.

Whistler Food Bank

FOOD BANK

Tasks for Food Bank volunteers include: inspecting and putting away donated food, unloading food deliveries, repackaging bulk foods into smaller portions, bringing recycling to depot, cleaning and organizing. Volunteers are usually booked for bi-weekly shifts and we also maintain an on-call list for occasional or emergency help. For more information, please connect with our Food Security team via email at foodbank@mywcss.org.

Food Bank Fundraisers and Food Drive Volunteers

Periodically, fundraisers and food drives are hosted by WCSS or run jointly with local businesses or non-profits. Often volunteers are required to help at information tables, solicit donations for draw prizes or raffles, sell raffle tickets, or set-up and tear down. For more information, please connect with our WCSS team at info@mywcss.org.
